Dr. Caveney leads medical and scientific affairs, enterprise R&D, oncology, cell & gene therapy, early development research laboratories, India operations, and scientific strategy for Labcorp globally. From 2019 – 2023, he served as the President of the $9 billion diagnostics business of Labcorp, leading all scientific and commercial aspects of the global laboratory business.
Prior to joining Labcorp, Brian served a variety of roles at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of North Carolina, including Chief Medical Officer. He was responsible for healthcare program strategy, care management, network provider contracting, medical coverage policy, medical expense initiatives, care quality, and pharmacy. Prior to Blue Cross North Carolina, Brian was a practicing physician and assistant professor at Duke University Medical Center, also involved in teaching, research, editing, and administrative functions for Duke. He holds active medical and law licenses in North Carolina.
