Kris Joshi, Ph.D.

CEO, Software, Network, Data, Optum

Kris is a leader and innovator who pursues bold ideas to drive industry transformation toward consumer-driven and personalized healthcare. He leads Optum’s $3 billion software, network, and data business. It includes healthcare SaaS products and the largest healthcare network in the U.S., connecting almost all payers, providers, pharmacies, and laboratories, carrying over $1 trillion in healthcare transactions every year and serving over 300 million consumers. Prior to its acquisition by Optum, Kris was at Change Healthcare, where he was Executive Vice President and President, Software and Network Solutions. Prior to joining Change Healthcare, Kris was Global Vice President for Healthcare in Oracle Corporation?s Health Sciences Global Business Unit serving major life sciences companies and academic medical centers around the world. Before Oracle, Kris was head of strategy for IBM’s global healthcare business and served in senior strategy roles in IBM’s Global Sales and Distribution organization. Prior to that, he was a consultant with McKinsey and Company, where he served Fortune 500 clients.

Kris has helped cultivate entrepreneurship and innovation in global health over the past 20 years. He is a co-founder of Vayu Global Health Foundation, which has developed groundbreaking low-cost innovations for infant and maternal health in resource poor regions of the world. He also serves on the board of Executives for Health Innovation. Kris holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Caltech, and a Ph.D. in astrophysics from MIT. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, sports, and observing the night sky with his telescope.
