WASHINGTON (April 6, 2021)
It is with great sadness that PMC today honors the passing of the Honorable Alcee L. Hastings (FL-20), following a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer.
Among his many accomplishments, Congressman Hastings will be remembered for his dedication to improving patients’ access to health care, including his advocacy for cancer patients, minorities, and women. As a member of the Congressional Personalized Medicine Caucus, he was a champion for personalized medicine on Capitol Hill.
Elected in 1992, Congressman Hastings served for fifteen terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, was the dean of the Florida House delegation as its longest-serving member, and served as Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Rules in the 117th Congress.
Our condolences go out to his family, his staff and colleagues on Capitol Hill, and his constituents.
