In order to deliver personalized medicine's promise of safer and more efficacious therapies, better health, and conceivably lower systemic costs, government leadership and intervention are crucial. In a meeting with U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Michael Leavitt on March 23rd, the Personalized Medicine Coalition presented thoughts on how the government can accelerate the adoption of personalized medicine, and the role it can play in catalyzing change and supporting innovation.
