Susceptibility to disease, manifestations of disease, and response to treatment vary among patients.  The mechanisms underlying this variability are increasingly well understood, and will be important drivers of health care over the next decade.  The Vanderbilt Personalized Medicine initiative will develop a national and international center of excellence to develop and implement individualized health care.
